Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1952 Carbine
Просмотров 12 тыс.2 года назад
This video describes my Manlicher Schoenauer Model 1952 (30-06), an excellent example of the classic Austrian full stock carbine. See Chuck Hawks detailed review of this model in 270: www.chuckhawks.com/m-s_1952_carbine.htm The split rear of the receiver on these rifles make mounting modern scopes challenging. I describe my endeavor to do so.
Ruger RSIs
Просмотров 17 тыс.2 года назад
I’ve always enjoyed the aesthetic appearance of the FULL LENGTH wood stock on a rifle. They are more common in Europe as short-length-barreled rifles called carbines and are often called Mannlicher stocks after the Austrian Steyr Mannlicher manufacture. (CZ refers to FS stocks.) Ruger designates its full length stocks as RSI I call it Ruger Stock International. Most Ruger RSIs are limited produ...

Hello, is the receiver made of steel or cast? thank you....
Very nice rifle. Hopefully you’ll get some woods time with it
Tout acier...De la très belle mécanique!!!!
Thank you so much!❤
Not your typical style of videos but it was good to see you upload another video. I've been waiting about four or five years for an update since I first saw your Ruger Mini-14 Target rifle video. If you're ever bored, I would love to see how you made out with that rifle.
Yes, I've slowed down at age 76!😂 that rifle was actually my buddies and I'm checking with him to see its status.
Hello, what a magnificent piece! Greetings from Poland. I have a similar one that belonged to my grandfather. It’s in 7x57 caliber from 1969. Could I contact you via email? I would like to ask a few details about this model.
@@mazurzestezetu957 feel free to ask your questions here for the benefit of others. I am not sure I can be of any help, though. 😊
@farleyjj1 Are you able to provide me with the exact length of the stock? My rifle has a shortened stock, modified by its previous owner (my grandfather passed away in 1986, my grandmother sold this rifle, and I found it 32 years later and bought it back). I would like to restore it to its former glory and original dimensions. I’m also interested in photos of the magazine, as mine is missing a part and, unfortunately, is non-functional. Additionally, I am looking for an original butt plate, meaning the part that rests against the shoulder. I hope this translation is clear. Have a great day!
@mazurzestezetu957 The approximate length of the stock is 32.5 inches. The buttplate is curved, so that is approximate. I will post a RUclips video "short" of the magazine because I cannot post still pictures on RUclips. Hope that helps.
Szukam dobrego fachowca do odświeżenia takiego Mannlichera 7x57 w Polsce
Najlepsze życzenia! Ufam, że Ci się spodoba!
I think it’s a fake.
I Have A CZ 452 Varmit & Its A Tack Driver, I Get Half Inch, 5 Shot Group's, With ELEY SUBSONIC HP's @ 50yds... What Is The PRICE Of This MTR ???
Nice rifle sir.
Thanks! And thanks for watching.😊
Do these have a decocker?
No.
Need quality ammo
I have bought one like mint when I was stationed at Camp Perry. I visited CMP every week and got many treasures there. My 82 didn’t have any cuts in the wood as many did. Some idiot cut a large majority of them with a box cutter during years of inventories. Many years later my rifle was knocked over and hit the concrete and cracked the stock along the accessory rail. Very upsetting. It can be repaired tho but I may get an AT one target stock and scope it just to change things up on it. Dime size groups at 50yds with Eley 10X all day.
Long Action surely? You say Short Action, but to my knowledge the rifle was only produced in Long Action.....🤔Anyway, nice rifle. I have one in .243Win in a standard european stock. Would have loved a FS version, but was unable to find one here in the UK when I bought mine. Mine was made in 1997 and when I picked it up in 2012, had never fired a round! Its only done a single box of twenty rounds since then! I really need to get it out more often!
Very nice. How do you like it so far
@@jamesdelong6401 Love it. Dropped a Coyote at 111 yds and a doe this fall in "old geezer season" at 131 yards. Both dropped without a step. Used 143 gr Hornady ELDx. 😊
@farleyjj1 Good morning, ☕️💪🇺🇸💪. Ok. Thank you for the update
love the scope.
Nice gun, and even ,ore so. Thanks
I don't understand what is so scary about using a notch leaf sight
@@JewsRock-ILJ not scary, but my old eyes are insufficient. Aperture sights are superior.
I shot a 98 on a prone postal competition card on an indoor 20yd range the other day. The 9s (and any and all non-bulls I score are caused by my poor shooting and not from this truly great rifle from the age of British mass-production of the highest quality. I can easily reload my MkII rifle with minimum movement whilst keeping my right elbow on the mat. I used the Anschütz mod 1827 biathlon rifle races when competing as a Biathlete, and if hand loading the extra rounds allowed on the 4 x 7.5km race, had to reach further forward to do that, thereby losing the elbow contact. The mod 1827 Anschütz uses a five round magazine, and most now have the excellent Fortner action, which reduces hand and elbow movement reloading between shots to the minimum it could possibly be within the rifle design specifications allowed for such rifles. All the Anschütz rifles I have seen in use by UK rifle clubs for prone shooting are single shot models. Death before Bench Rest shooting! 🙄
😂Well, most guys I shoot with have 1 foot in the grave!! 😂
@@farleyjj1 I first shot a pre-WWII vintage BSA Martini Mk 8 heavy barrel rifle as an ATC Cadet in the early 1980s, as well as the No 8 and No 4 Lee-Enfield rifles (and the L1A1 SLR). The No 8 rifle is highly sought after in the UK by boys of a. certain age after they finally went out of service in 2014 - they normally are snapped up immediately for £1100 each time. A BSA International goes for between £250-£400 over here. I bought my Mk 2 International from the club for £70 as soon as my Firearm Certificate arrived in the post. I have used four or five different types of ammunition with it (Eley and German manufacturers) from £4.50 and £6.50 a box of 50, and there isn't any difference between them: pretty much all as good as each other. 🇬🇧👍
I am proud of my 64-1 which was the very first hand gun I purchased . It is my favorite among my S&W gun collection. The short travel and smooth trigger action is ideal for repeat shots.
Nice rifle!
Thanks! It's a tack driver!!
I’ve got the same gun but mine is 7mm-08. My grandfather gave it to me along with all his other firearms. He’s 80 years old now so he doesn’t shoot anymore.
@@Tygeera enjoy!
Finally a scope mounted CLOSE to the barrel. Not sure on the new gen 2 vs this rifle. I didnt like the stock on gen 2. Lookin good!!!
2024, I was just given a sporterized Smith Corona 1903 A3, how to shoot it using the peeps is new to me.
My 788 in 308 could always get the first two rounds touching and the third would be a flyer, about 2 inches away.
😊 sounds like a good cold barrel hunter!!
Owned this same weapon in 1978 $175.00 Sold in 80 for 300
He didnt say much about the gun. Review?
Show & tell. Review?
Could be a good pocket gun.
Can a 38 super shoot 9mm?
@@rafaelteran7756 I read an article that it can. Do a Google search.
CZ would sell a fair number of 457 fs, if they would produce them. I'd buy one.
I have nearly the exact same setup but 223 remington and benchrest 12-42. Love it. Bolt was stickey at first once i learned how to properly clean and lubeicate it is smooth. I need to get the same bags that you have right now i have protektor bags in rear and the original caldwell front bag
I use this rifle in 3006 since 1983. Never jamming, groups under 1 inch... Gave it every 10 years to an exellent gunsmith for inspektion and cleaning. Ready for the next 50 years...
@@heribertjuralewsky3384 I wish I could use it here in Pennsylvania for large game but semi automatics are only allowed on varmints in my state. Thanks for watching.
That surprises me. I come from Germany and thought, that USA is the liberal paradise for hunters .
@@heribertjuralewsky3384 hunting laws vary greatly from state to state. Some are very liberal and some are very restrictive.
Anyone have one for sale near or in Wisconsin?

I used to have a Ruger #1 like that but 30-06 caliber. It was my first #1 and surprised me how short it was when I finally got it. It also surprised me with its muzzle blast with that short barrel. Those things didn't stop it from being my most successful elk hunting rifle of all time. I sure did hate to take it out in bad weather though.
Barrels always seem shorter because of the short action of the #1. 30-06 is a great caliber. Thanks for watching!
What year? 1411?
1963. I think 1413. 1413 has a slot mount for a palm rest;1410 does not. Thanks for watching.
This is what I shot at Marine Military Academy 1976 - 1979. I loved that rifle so very much. Be careful: I understand you need a special tool to fully disassemble the bolt with any chance of reassembly.
ระยะยิงกี่เมตรคับ
Approximately 17 yds, 50 feet
😂😂That's one opinion...thanks for watching! 😊
John Browning didn't make the 38 super just for nothing. 9mm is a joke.
I have the same rifle, also matching, purchased last week. Mine also the straight bolt handle, but I have seen the same rifle with a matching turned down handle.
Nice!!! Enjoy! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your video. I just purchased a model 1950 and I'm hunting for a front sight hood cover. Any help?
Thanks for watching. As for the front hood, I don't have any real suggestions other than Google searches and perhaps eBay. Best wishes!

How do you like your 204? What kind of velocities are you getting from that 22 inch barrel
@@Hoytbuff 3700 fps from Sierra 36 gr factory ammo. The rifle is a good shooter but I hate the mag release configuration that you have to use an assist to take the receiver out of the stock. Replaced it with the single shot adapter sled.
Mine is chambered in. 270, with the same scope, but my scope mount has 2 hinges which allow me to move the scope to the left out of the way, giving me a clear view of the iron sights.
The Lyman Alaskan scope is what im using.
I have one of those I purchased for a "go to court gun" in 1976. Bought it new for about $250.00. I still have it and it is going no where!
She’s a beaut
One of my favorite calibers. How accurate is it?
Very. Seems to like IMR 4895 and 52 grain Hornady EDM. [thanks for watching.)
@@farleyjj1You're welcome. My Savage 110 likes the Speer 52 grain bullet, #1036. Great bullet for about 20 cents apiece.
Have a 452 FS in .22 and a 527 FS in .223
Nice! Are they shooters? My 455 FS is! 😊(Thanks for watching)
